Dear Balaton!

Quoted:

"We moved to Shaker Heights in 1978 and we discovered Balaton soon after the move. We have eaten there with family and friends for all these years. We love the food. My husband tries different main courses, but I always end of getting the Weiner Schnitzel wich is the best I have ever had. I also love the salad dressing and the paprikash, I always have Dobosh Torte for dessert. We look forward many more years with you."

“Most of the notes, about 99% are positive, and few are not. Scanning through the media, and after dining at Balaton many times, I must give five stars to Balaton and returning five stars to those who care about a Cleveland icon like your establishment. Three generations (now sixty years) in the restaurant business? Only a handful remain in Cleveland.”

“I think a satisfied customer is less likely to chat to the crowd, but a dissatisfied customer would more likely make a note. It is the untrue leverage of gossiping, and the dangers of none-professional reviewers. So, I did place my best on several of those chat-sites, and I will continue to do so. Luckily not too many of those around, who pass a quick and exaggerated note of a small-time complaint, that gentlemen could resolve in less time then his damaging short note in cyberspace.”

"I felt that I must make a solid positive mark and observation about the ups and downs of social media these days. For better or worse they are here now. What drives me to write these thoughts is the lack of prequalification by some of the self appointed food critiques. That used to be a learned profession much like a Judge of Wines in Europe.”
